Direct Support Professional

for all counties of New Jersey.

Job Description

Direct Support Professional Job Responsibilities: Provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Performs personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, ambulation, and healthcare-related tasks. by providing independent living skills in their own residence.

  • Supports individuals in the development/enhancement of independent living skills in areas such as nutrition, meal planning and preparation, household skills, clothing maintenance, personal grooming and hygiene, money skills, recreational and social skills, safety, travel,self-advocacy, and others.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of the individuals.
  • Transports individuals in a vehicle to appointments, shopping, recreational activities, and others as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to accompany and supervise individuals on appointments, community activities, recreational events, etc.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Related work, volunteer, or educational experience required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Upon employment, must pass all mandatory Division of Developmental Disabilities training and maintain current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR training
